The defining feature of the Rongai route.
Certified lead guide, assistant guides, cook and porters — fully insured and daily health-checked.
Four-season tents, a private dining tent, and freshly prepared meals throughout the trek.
Presented at the finishing gate on your descent.
Register with Tanzania National Parks at Marangu Gate, then drive roughly 2.5 hours to the Rongai trailhead (with a lunch stop en route), arriving at 1st Caves Camp in the late afternoon or early evening.
The climb continues past Second Cave (3,450m, a good lunch spot) to Kikelewa Cave — an exposed camp where night temperatures can drop below freezing.
A short but steep ascent to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, rewarded with dramatic views and a hot dinner as you watch the sunset.
An extra rest day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp specifically for acclimatization — the document's own recommendation for tackling Rongai at this altitude — before the half-day push to Kibo Hut.
A half-day hike eastward to Kibo Hut (no water source here — bottled water and soft drinks are available at the camp office), followed by an early dinner and a guide briefing ahead of summit night.
Ascend past Hans Meyer Cave (5,150m) to Gillman's Point (5,681m), then on to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Kibo Hut (~3 hrs) for a rest and meal, then continue down to Horombo Hut.
A final 6-hour descent to Marangu Gate — sign in for your completion certificate (green for Gillman's Point, gold for Uhuru Peak) before the drive back to Arusha.
What climbers usually ask before booking.
