How We Started
Vision Safaris & Tours was built from the ground up in Arusha, Tanzania – the gateway town for the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Kilimanjaro. Our founders and guides grew up around this landscape, trained as professional safari guides and drivers, and built long-standing relationships with the lodges, camps, conservancies and communities across the region.
For years, our focus was the classic Tanzania circuit: the Serengeti’s Great Migration, the Ngorongoro Crater’s dense wildlife, Tarangire’s elephant herds, Kilimanjaro’s summit trails, and Zanzibar’s beaches at the end of a dusty safari.
But our guests kept asking the same question: “While we’re this close, could we also see the gorillas? Could we add the Maasai Mara? Is Kilimanjaro or Bwindi realistic on the same trip?”
Those questions changed how we think about East Africa.
Why We Grew Beyond Tanzania
We realised that most travellers don’t think in terms of country borders – they think in terms of experiences. The Great Migration doesn’t stop at the Kenya-Tanzania border. Gorilla trekking is shaped as much by Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park as by Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. A honeymoon might mean the Serengeti one week and Zanzibar’s Indian Ocean coastline the next.
So we built the relationships, ground logistics and guiding partnerships needed to plan across all four countries properly – not just bolt a Kenya add-on onto a Tanzania itinerary, but design a trip where each leg is chosen because it earns its place.
Today, Vision Safaris & Tours plans and guides journeys across:
- Tanzania – the complete safari country: Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar
- Kenya – classic safari landscapes and conservation: Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Samburu, Laikipia, Ol Pejeta
- Uganda – primates, forests and the Nile: Bwindi, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls
- Rwanda – primate encounters and remarkable landscapes: Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe, Akagera, Lake Kivu
Whether it’s one country or all four, the approach is the same: a private, tailor-made itinerary designed around your interests, your pace, and your time – not a fixed package pulled off a shelf.
What Hasn’t Changed
Growth is not the story. Care is the story.
Every itinerary is still built by hand, by people who have driven these roads, slept in these camps, and know which lodge suits a family versus a honeymoon, and which week of the year gives you the best chance at a river crossing. Every guest still works directly with our Arusha-based team from first enquiry to airport drop-off, whether their trip is seven days in the Serengeti or a three-week expedition across all four countries.
We still believe a safari – or a gorilla trek, or a Kilimanjaro climb, or a stretch of Zanzibar beach – is not a checklist. It’s a story you’ll tell for the rest of your life, and we take seriously our part in writing it well.
Where We Are Today
We now guide guests on single-country safaris, two-country combinations like Kenya & Tanzania or Uganda & Rwanda, and grand East Africa expeditions covering all four countries in one trip. Every itinerary is built by our in-house travel consultants and delivered on the ground by our own guides and driver-guides – not outsourced, not templated.
