Despite being one of Tanzania’s smaller wildlife reserves, Lake Manyara National Park is a magnificent wilderness area with a remarkably diverse landscape. The lake is home to numerous species, including hundreds of pink flamingos and yellow-billed storks, to name a few, that can be seen soaring about the lake. This is the location that bird lovers will appreciate the most. You ascend to a height of 18 meters by crossing a series of suspension bridges with heavy netting on the sides. Lake Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life with more than 400 species being recorded.
The wilderness experience of Lake Manyara National Park is available in a variety of environments, including soda lake in the Rift Valley, densely forested areas, and steep mountainsides. The park is renowned for its peculiar tree-climbing lions and the large elephant herds it was created to protect, in addition to its breathtaking setting. More than 400 species of birds, many of them waterfowl or migrants, are drawn to the lake’s beaches, which are covered in pink flamingos. Buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe, and impala herds in large numbers prowl the lakeshores and the forested valley slopes.
